"Anyone who wants a first class workout should be taking self defense classes with Charlie McShane."

“Anyone who wants a first class workout should be taking self defense classes with Charlie McShane. The self defense techniques are taught in a way that does not require superior strength or athleticism, yet are easy to learn, and incredibly effective. This course provides me with the most efficient exercise I've ever had. I could not recommend it more highly."

My name is Charlie McShane, and if you're like most adults, I know where you're at.

You probably want to get in shape. You've tried it before, running, the gym, martial arts, whatever. It worked for awhile, but you didn't get the results you were looking for and it's hard to stick with.

Discouraging, right?

Or, you're looking for self-defense. Maybe you watch the UFC and think it looks cool, but you don't necessarily want to jump in there and tangle with Tito Ortiz. The training seems fun though.

In short, you want to get in awesome MMA shape, be able to fight if you need to, and have a great time?

I think I have something you need to see.

It's called the "America's Best Defense System", and here's what you'll get:

... a modern martial arts curriculum built on the best of Muay Thai Kickboxing, Grappling, and Israeli Self-Defense. This isn't "cardio-kickboxing" and it's not kid's karate. With America's Best Defense, you'll get a cutting-edge, modern day martial arts system.

Charlie McShane and Mike Lee Kanarek,
Black Belt Magazine Self-Defense Instructor of the Year, 2007.
Mike is the founder of the F.I.G.H.T. System.

... an effective, full-body workout that will leave you feeling accomplished, after every class. ABD improves flexibility, tone, endurance, and energy.

... proven self-defense principles designed to keep you safe. With ABD, our system is continually improved so you're always getting the latest in martial arts tactics and development.

... a structured system to keep you motivated and seeing progress. This is where other exercise systems may have failed you. At Northstar Martial Arts, you have someone helping you, guiding you, and the support of other students just like you. In short, accountability. We help to build you from within, to create self-discipline so strong you won't need anyone else to push you.

... a friendly, safe workout environment. We have great people training here at NMA, and a safe facility to keep you in "fighting shape."

... the attention of full-time, professional instructors. This is important - at Northstar Martial Arts, teaching is our only job. Our instructors are not distracted by dayjobs - this means better quality instruction for you.

2008, Mike Murphy

... a fun activity for you. It's time you can take for yourself, to vent frustrations and feel great, every week.

... a way to meet new friends. You'll surround yourself with motivated, like-minded people that will push you to better yourself

.... improved energy. Proper exercise keeps your body and mind balanced.

... goals, short and long-term, with an emphasis placed on personal achievement.

... less of a waistline.

At Northstar Martial Arts,we know that you don't have a lot of time for yourself, let alone a system for Personal Development. With your needs in mind, we have structured a curriculum to help you achieve your goals, in as little time as possible.

Nurses. Police officers. Pipe Fitters. Casino workers. Doctors. College students. Nurses. Interface Analysts. Grocers. High School Teachers. House Moms. Engineers. People from all different walks of life benefit from classes at Northstar Martial Arts.

We have students from their teens to their fifties training in our program.

You will get the the personal attention you need to stay on track to better yourself. Your success will become a habit, something you can apply to all aspects of your life.

BUT DON'T TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT...
HERE IS WHAT SOME CLIENTS HAVE TO SAY

"I have been involved in many sports but this really has been great for all around conditioning."

"I have been taking karate for several years and I have been extremely impressed with what it is has done for me.  My strength, flexibility and endurance have all significantly improved. I have been involved in many sports but this really has been great for all around conditioning.  Learning new physical maneuvers involved in a new form gives a real sense of accomplishment.

Mr. McShane and his staff are experts at what they do and are very understanding and patient teachers.  The people that I have met through karate have been the best.  I look forward to going every week."

"As nervous as I was, you and your staff made me feel comfortable."

"Master McShane -

"After watching (my son's) classes, I often thought about trying karate myself.   When Andrew signed up, I decided to give it a try.   As nervous as I was, you and your staff made me feel comfortable.   Over the past few months, I have noticed so many chances in myself.   I definitely enjoy the workout.   You push me to do things I never thought I could or would do.   Both my husband and I have notice a greater level of confidence in myself.   I wish that I had known the self defense techniques years ago.

Thank you again for all you, Mr. Hesser and the rest of the staff have done for my family,

Megin Sechen (Orange Belt, Mother of 2)

about each other."

“I am a student at Northstar Martial Arts.  I am a first degree black belt.   Northstar Martial Arts has given me sense of direction among other qualities.  I feel there is no teacher better.  Mr. McShane teaches by example, not just in the arts of Tang Soo Do and Jiu Jitsu, but also in life.  I have grown physically, mentally, and most important, spiritually.

Northstar Martial Arts is a community where people care about each other.  Our school is much more than a place to work out."

"It's because of his training that I survived an attack."

“I’ve been training with Mr. McShane for nearly three years now, and I followed him from the school in Saybrook where I began training with him.   I now travel from Saybrook to Norwich about three times a week to train with him.  The staff is terrific, the students are marvelous, and it’s because of his training that I survived an attack.”

Patti Osborne (Red belt, 40 years old)

"I highly recommend it to anyone over thirty."

“I’ve been a student of Northstar Martial Arts for the last four years.  It’s a good workout, great cardio-vascular workout.  Great for stretching at my age of 48, and it teaches self-discipline along with the self-defense.  I highly recommend it to anyone over thirty.”
